Pilates with Joy of Movement
Movement is change – and change happens through movement.
As children we move almost constantly and with a lot of joy. But as we get older, our lifestyle becomes more sedentary – often without our noticing it. Only when we get pain, our health suffers or we gain weight, are we prescribed exercise or force ourselves to do so. And sometimes it seems like we even punish ourselves for what we missed or have eaten. Exercise, especially regular ones, becomes a big task.
Joseph Pilates wrote that movement heals. His method was inspired by the movements of children and animals. In his book “Return to Life through Contrology” he describes how a cat stretches and elongates before moving with ease. The exercises and movement sequences he developed are organic, you work with your own body weight and on special apparatus against and with resistance.
In this way you strengthen and stretch your muscles and at the same time increase your mobility and flexibility.
In my Pilates lessons you will move specifically to strengthen your body, increase your mobility and flexibility, and thus carry out the movements with an ease that arises from your strength – or as Pilates put it: “minimum effort, maximum pleasure ”.
And that is why you will (re)discover the joy of movement in my Pilates lessons.
And since movement is change, movement changes you too. Joseph Pilates described it this way:
“In 10 sessions you feel the difference. In 20 sessions you will see the difference, and in 30 you will have a whole new body ”
So why not give it a try and book a class with Joy of Movement.
